Double your donation this june!

Did you know that nearly 1 in 6 new rough sleepers in London is a newly-granted refugee?*

Spires has seen an increase in refugees experiencing homelessness or at risk of being homeless attending our services. In 2024, 116 people used our refugee-focused housing support service in Croydon. In 2025, that number rose to 161. We anticipate we will see at least 200 refugees in 2026.

Spires is taking part in the Big Give Small Charity Week Challenge to raise funds for our housing support service for newly-granted refugees in Croydon. Between 22-29 June, our goal is to raise £10,000 in donations to unlock a further £10,000 in match funds from the People’s Postcode Lottery.

With this target of £20,000 we will continue to support newly granted refugees who are homeless or vulnerable to homelessness to move into safe, stable, and sustainable housing. Our goal is to support over 100 refugees into housing in 2026.

Why your donation matters?

Each year, the number of people facing homelessness in London increases. In Croydon, Lambeth, and Wandsworth, the number of people rough sleeping has increased by 41.4% since 2022.* Every day, Spires staff see this reality during our Rough Sleeper drop-ins, Women’s Space, and street outreach.

Spires supports people experiencing homelessness and poverty in south London to regain their confidence and independence so they can exit homelessness, and where possible avoid it all together. Through our different services, Spires offers tailored and non-judgemental support, practical essentials like sleeping bags and food parcels, and a safe space where dignity and autonomy matters (and arguably the best cup of tea in south London!).

Your donation will support:

  • People experiencing homelessness, including those rough sleeping or in temporary accommodation

  • Women engaged in survival/street-based sex work

  • Newly-granted refugees
