Plump little finch
how happy you seem
happy in and out of the hedge
Totally unafraid by my presence
I feel like he wants to make friends
The morning is dry and mild
I feel happy
His singing makes me feel he does too
He gathers breakfast
as we humans rush past
on our way to work
who has a better life, us or him?

I try my best
And when I finish I will take a rest
Winter will soon be here
But have no fear
Wrap up warm
Be careful there may be a storm
It's a bit cold today
Not the weather to go and play
